Greenback Quarry 17
Mud
man Murphy strikes again.
I guess when you're in violation of as many rules and regulations as the Mud Man is, one more doesn't matter. Last week, Blount County bobcat owner, Rodney Murphy, posted "No Trespassing" signs at the entrance of Hutton Road. Problem is, Hutton Road is actually a Greenback City street. The Mud Man has no authority to close or prohibit access to Hutton Road. According to the countywide road list, Hutton is 15' wide with a 30' right-of-way and is .6 of a mile in length. This means anyone can drive the road any time they want and Mud Man can do nothing about it. And according to Greenback mayor, Dewayne Birchfield, the city has no intentions to close or abandon the road. Scattered all over Greenback are signs and banners in opposition to Mud Man's quarry plans. Maybe the good citizens of Greenback should hold a, "NO Quarry", parade up and down Hutton Road. On a side note, the hearing on the county and Greenback summary judgment will be coming up next month at the Roane County Courthouse. The hearing is open to the public. |
