Greenback Quarry 11
Back in January, M&M Stone Farms LLC, bought the 355
acre Hutton Farm on Old Hwy. 95. This is the property that's at the
center of the controversial proposed rock quarry. M&M Stone Farms,
LLC., paid $2,750,000.00 for the property.
For more than a year, Blount County resident, Rodney Murphy, of Murphy Bobcat, has been threatening to buy the property and open a new rock quarry regardless what the City of Greenback or the residents wanted. In the last few weeks, Murphy and others have begin moving lots of dirt from the site, apparently in preparation to open a quarry. As has been discussed many times, the land where the quarry is to locate, is not zoned to allow a quarry. Last week, Loudon County zoning and codes supervisor sent the property owner a cease and desist letter and gave direction on what they needed to do. Waiting to hear back from M&M Stone Farms.
