Greenback man charged with
assault, drugs
A Greenback man has been charged with aggravated assault after a domestic dispute. Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Daniel Allen was called July 31 to a report of domestic assault. The deputy was met by a woman who began talking as Allen approached, but Hatem Keith Smith, 24, quickly came down from a porch at the residence and began yelling louder than the woman.
Allen
said he told Smith to return to the porch three times,
informing him he would have a turn in a moment. Smith
refused to return to the porch and was detained.
The woman told Allen that she and Smith had been arguing over a conversation she had with someone on her cell phone. Smith had taken the woman’s phone, and she tried to get it back. Smith then grabbed the woman by the throat. The woman’s father heard the fighting and came into the room to find Smith with his hands on the woman’s throat. The father placed Smith into a chokehold until the woman was released. The woman then took her phone outside and called 911. The woman asked Allen to enter the residence to see damage. When the deputy entered, he noted a strong smell of marijuana, according to the arrest report. Allen asked about the smell, and the woman led Allen to a room and said the marijuana was Smith’s. The marijuana was found in a backpack in a corner along with weapons Smith admitted belonged to him. Smith recounted to Allen a similar story and admitted placing his hands on the woman’s throat. He denied chocking her. Smith was charged with aggravated assault and manufacture, sell, delivery, resale of a schedule VI drug and released on $11,000 bond. Truck driver charged with trespassingLoudon County Sheriff’s Office Field Training Officer Trey Clemmer responded Aug. 4, along with a LCSO sergeant, for a call at a local manufacturing plant. When the two arrived, workers told them truck driver Abdirashid Ali Mohamed, 29, Waite Park, Minn., was trying to drop off a delivery but didn’t have paperwork. The trailer also wasn’t sealed. Workers said they told Mohamed they could not accept the delivery, but he continued to try and leave the materials, according to an arrest report. Workers said they told Mohamed to leave the property several times, but he refused and parked his truck in front of a gate.
Clemmer said he told Mohamed the plant could not
accept the delivery and wanted him to leave the
property and not come back. Mohamed left the site.
Deputies were later called back to the plant when Mohamed returned and drove to the loading dock, exited his truck and went inside the shipping office. Clemmer and a fellow deputy found Mohamed walking out of the building. Mohamed was charged with criminal trespass and released on $1,000 bond.
