assistant Ethan Edmiston as football coach
Aaron Torres Knoxville News Sentinel
Greenback
has hired Ethan Edmiston as its new football coach.
Edmiston,
who was an assistant coach at Sweetwater, replaces Greg
Ryan, who left Greenback in May to become offensive coordinator
at Catholic.
This is
Edmiston's third head coaching job; he previously served as the
coach at Union County and at Sweetwater. Greenback went 5-5 in
2020 and lost to Coalfield in the second round of the Class 1A
playoffs.
Edmiston
will take over a program that became one of the top schools in
Class 1A under Ryan. Greenback reached the Class 1A state
championship game in 2016, 2017 and 2019, and it won the state
championship in 2017.
Edmiston
served as Union County's coach for two seasons (2013-14). He
then coached at Sweetwater from 2015-18 before ultimately
resigning. His career record is 24-39.
