The school system gave WVLT News a statement, saying Clemmer did not “create a positive atmosphere in and out of the classroom. LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - Now former Greenback High School Head Football Coach Tommy Clemmer has been removed from the team’s staff after an incident with a student, according to a representative with Loudon County Schools. The school system gave WVLT News a statement, saying Clemmer did not “create a positive atmosphere in and out of the classroom.” He’s been replaced with Coach Gray Williams, who is serving in the role in the interim.

was involved in the incident on Friday during a football game.
The parents of the student and the student themselves did not
want to press charges at the time, Bengel said.

GREENBACK, Tenn. (WATE) — Greenback High School Football Coach Tommy Clemmer has been removed from the football staff following an incident involving a minor during a football game on Aug. 30, according to Loudon County Schools and the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office.

Garren issued a statement to 6 News on
Wednesday stating that Clemmer was removed
from the Greenback High School’s football
staff as on Tuesday afternoon.
“Loudon County Board of
Education Policy No. 5.610 sets the
expectation that all teachers and coaches
create a positive atmosphere in and out of
the classroom, and that they extend courtesy
and respect to all students. When those
expectations are not met though, action must
be taken,” Garren wrote.
Coach Gray Williams has been named as the interim head coach at the school.
The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office said
that Clemmer was “involved in an
incident with a juvenile” during a
football game on Friday, August 30.
Deputies spoke with the parents of the child who declined to press charges, but that is subject to change, LCSO said. |
