LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — On Friday, the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office welcomed “
a beautiful new junior deputy” into the world.

Elvie Faye Jenkins is the granddaughter of Sgt. Chris Jenkins, who was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer on I-75 in 2022. Jenkins had been trying to move a ladder that had fallen off a different vehicle. He implemented a rolling roadblock, but the tractor-trailer failed to stop.

Elvie Faye Jenkins’s parents are Summer and Corporal Clay Jenkins.

“We know Chris is beaming with pride from above, keeping a loving watch over this beautiful little girl as her guardian angel,” LCSO posted about the birth on Sunday. “We’re honored to be part of your family’s journey and can’t wait to see Elvie grow, surrounded by love, legacy, and the LCSO family!”
