News Herald Arrest Report
Georgia driver leads
high-speed chase
A
Georgia man led officers on a pursuit Sunday through Lenoir
City and racked up a long list of charges in the process.
Loudon
County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Cody Bengel responded to the
property of an abandoned home on Hotchkiss Valley Road in
reference to a suspicious person and car. The caller told
deputies there was a green Toyota Camry with heavy front-end
damage on the property.
When approaching the car, Bengel identified himself as a
deputy and the man, Dionta Tyrell Arnold, 28, Conley, Ga.,
quickly got into the driver’s seat and sped away through the
yard, causing damage along the way, Bengel wrote in a
report.
Arnold led a
pursuit from Hotchkiss Valley Road onto Highway 95 while
speeding and running stop signs. Arnold continued onto
Adesa Parkway, where Bengel noticed smoke coming from
the Camry. Arnold continued to run red lights and speed
recklessly. He then made a U-turn in an intersection
before continuing to U.S. Highway 321.
Bengel
unsuccessfully attempted to stop Arnold using pursuit
intervention techniques, and Arnold continued toward
Interstate 75. He drove down the embankment between the
on-ramp and I-75, went airborne and landed on the
roadway below, Bengel wrote in a report.
The Camry was
disabled and deputies boxed in the vehicle on the
shoulder of the interstate.
Arnold then fled
on foot and later crossed both lanes of traffic. Bengel
used his taser to take Arnold down in the median before
taking him into custody.
As Arnold was
being detained, Bengel noticed a pistol at his feet. He
was searched again and placed in a patrol car.
The Camry came
back stolen out of Georgia and Arnold’s license was
previously suspended. He also had an active warrant out
of Clayton County, Ga., for terroristic threats. Bengel
reviewed Arnold’s 22 pages of criminal history, where
law enforcement learned Arnold is a convicted felon.
A methamphetamine
pipe was found in the vehicle cupholder, and Arnold told
deputies he was smoking meth when they initially
approached him at the house.
Arnold was charged
with criminal trespassing, aggravated assault, three
counts of reckless endangerment, theft of property,
vandalism, two counts of resisting arrest, possession of
a handgun while under the influence, possession of a
firearm during a dangerous felony, possession of drug
paraphernalia, convicted felon in possession of firearm,
driving on a revoked/suspended license, reckless
driving, driving under the influence, violation of
implied consent, three counts of traffic control device,
driving on roadways laned for traffic and speeding 21
mph over the limit and held without bond.
Lenoir City man arrested for child porn
After months
of investigation and multiple reports from websites,
a Lenoir City man was arrested for exploitation of a
minor.
The first
report came into Lenoir City Police Department Inv.
Jason Smith on March 16 from the Knoxville Police
Department. The National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children forwarded the tip to KPD from
Twitter, which had reported images of child
pornography and erotica that had been uploaded Feb.
10 to the site by a user.
The user
registered the account Feb. 9 and had a Lenoir City
phone number. The number was found in the records
management system to belong to Bobby Lynn Ryan, 39.
Ryan also uploaded a photo of himself on the Twitter
account, Smith wrote in a report.
Smith received
four more tips March 24 from KPD. NCMEC received the
tip from Google, which reported an email account
attached to Ryan’s phone number uploaded child
pornography.
On May 6,
Smith received another tip from KPD. NCMEC forwarded
the tip from DropBox from an account under the name,
“Anonymous Anomaly,” that had uploaded three child
pornography videos and had been accessed from the
same IP address reported by Twitter.
On May 12,
LCPD Lt. Jeremy Dishner stopped Ryan as he was
driving a white Chevrolet truck on U.S. Highway 321.
Ryan had a gun in the vehicle, which was reported
stolen from Knox County on May 16, 2020.
Ryan was
charged with theft of property and aggravated
exploitation of a minor and released on $31,000
bond.
