Gas Tax Max
| July 1st, marked the third and final installment of
our illustrious former governor, Bill Haslam's and a bunch of gutless
republicans three year gas tax increase. You are now paying six cents
more for every gallon gas and ten cents more for every gallon of diesel
fuel you buy.
Total state tax per gallon of gas is now 27.4 cents, on diesel 28.4 cents. Federal tax is 18.4 cents per gallon of gas and 24.4 cents per gallon of diesel. Grand total of tax per gallon of gas, 45.8 cents and 52.8 cents on diesel. That's just wrong. And by the way, Haslem's big tax plan also added an extra $5 to the cost of tag renewal.
