News Herald Arrest Report
Fugitive caught in retail
parking lot
An off-duty law enforcement officers 911 call led to a fugitive being arrested Jan. 2 by Lenoir City Police. LCPD Officer Ethan P. Carroll was dispatched to the parking lot of a Lenoir City retail store after off-duty Officer Ernie Gallo reported a vehicle struck a stationary vehicle.
Gallo
told Carroll the driver, Christopher Allen Stevens, 29,
Trenton, Ga., inspected the vehicle he struck and tried to
fix it.
While speaking with Stevens,
Carroll noticed a strong odor of marijuana emitting from his
vehicle, and observed a small marijuana roach sitting in the
center console ashtray. Stevens immediately became
belligerent and began yelling, I do not consent to any
searches, according to the report.
Carrol found a backpack in the passenger seat a scale and 1.6 pounds of a white crystal-like substance in several individually packaged baggies. Between the drivers seat and center console was an unloaded .32-caliber revolver wrapped in a bandana. Carrol also found $1,861 in the drivers side door. He confiscated the money, firearm, vehicle and what was believed to be methamphetamine. Once transported to the Loudon County Jail, officers discovered a full extradition warrant for Stevens in Georgia. Stevens was charged with manufacturing, delivery, sale and possession of meth, unlawful carrying or possession of weapon, possession of firearm during a dangerous felony, possession of paraphernalia and fugitive from justice and held without bond. Loudon man chargedLenoir City Police Officer Jesse Robinson was dispatched Jan. 2 to a motel in Lenoir City in reference to a man frightening a front desk clerk. When Robinson arrived, he met Matthew Nolan, 23, Loudon, who was standing in the lobby wearing only shorts. When asked why Nolan took off most of his clothes, he told Robinson because it was cold. The clerk told Robinson that Nolan repeatedly said he was going to kill everyone. Officers had Nolan gather his clothing and step outside. While they tried to question Nolan on why he was only in shorts and if he had taken any narcotics, Nolan started shaking and requested a lighter for a cigarette. Nolan was then arrested for disorderly conduct, according to the report.
After being placed in the back of Robinsons patrol
vehicle, Nolan began kicking a vehicle window. Upon
arrival at the jail, Robinson noticed the window was
damaged and the door was no longer in proper
