From The Office Of District Attorney Russell Johnson Robbie Covington decided to plead guilty during the second day of his jury trial on Wednesday, September 11, for his role in the 2017 murder of William Roberts. Covington pled guilty as charged to felony-murder and to especially aggravated robbery. He received a life sentence with the possibility of parole after serving 51 years on the murder charge and 60 years on the robbery charge, which will turn concurrent with the life sentence. Covington is 31 years old and has been in
continuous custody since his arrest on the day of the murder. Thus,
he will be eligible for parole when he is over 80 years old, if he
lives that long.
Covington’s co-defendant, James Clapham, is set for
trial on the same charges on October 3rd.
