Flag Pole Approved
Last Thursday, the Harrison
Woods HOA voted 3-2 to allow Jack McIntosh to keep his flag pole in his
yard. I have no idea who the two no voters were.
The controversy began last month when Mr. McIntosh received a letter from the HOA management demanding he take down the pole with his American flag. In fact, he was given 30 days to remove it or face fines and sanctions from the HOA. His grandson Justin, reached out so see if there was anything that could be done. Last Monday I ran the story about the situation. That's when you, the people took over. The outpouring of support for Mr. McIntosh from friends, neighbors, veterans groups and complete strangers was astounding. Obviously, many of you also reached out to the HOA manager. Your message was well heard. In fact, the HOA manager, Hank Fennell, even called me and asked that I remove his personal contact information from my website and Facebook page. And I did. This is such a fantastic lesson in what people can accomplish when they work together for a cause. Mr. McIntosh wanted to thank everyone who showed so much support for his cause. Big picture, this situation should never have happened. There should be nowhere in this country that a person would be prohibited from flying the American Flag when, where and how they want.
