Fatal crash on I-75 North near Lenoir City under investigation
 

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WATE) — One person is dead after a crash caused the northbound lanes of I-75 near Lenoir City to be closed for several hours.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol shared that the crash took place at 10:29 a.m. on October 24. The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office reported around 11 a.m. that the northbound lanes of I-75 were shut down at mile marker 79.8 for a fatal wreck. The lanes reopened around 1:20 p.m.
 
THP’s preliminary report said as a 2005 Lexus RX330 was going south on I-75, it crossed over the median to the northbound side of the interstate and struck a 2024 Dodge Ram. After the collision, the Lexus came to a stop on the left lane of I-75 North and the Dodge came to a final rest in the middle of lane 1 and lane 2 of I-75 North.
 
The driver of the Lexus, a 66-year-old woman from Tennessee, died as a result of the crash, while the Dodge’s driver, a 49-year-old Kentucky man, was injured. THP added that no charges are pending in the crash.
 
The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, Loudon County Fire/Rescue, Lenoir City Fire Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, TDOT, Priority Ambulance, and AMR responded to the scene.
