Ethics Complaint?

Loudon County resident, Michelle Fritz, has filed an ethics complaint against the chairman of the solid waste commission, Adam Waller. In her complaint, Ms. Fritz takes issue with the boards actions, memberships of the board and about anything else she can think of. Problem is, none of her complaints constitutes any form of an ethics violation.

T.C.A. § 8-17-102(a)(3). Additionally, the Ethics Reform Act expressly states that these policies cannot include personnel or employment policies, or policies or procedures related to operational aspects of governmental entities

As previously stated, the county ethics policy is required to cover the acceptance of and disclosure of gifts accepted by officials and employees and the disclosure of conflicts of interest.  Accordingly, an ethics complaint received by a county ethics committee that does not address either the acceptance and/or disclosure of a gift or a conflict of interest need not be pursued by the ethics committee.

Nothing in her two page complaint, see below, remotely suggests the "acceptance and/or disclosure of a gift or a conflict of interest". She mostly complains about the boards actions. As to the two board members terms she mentions, both are city appointees so that matter should be taken up with city officials.

Of late, Ms. Fritz has become quite the social media warrior railing about just about everything the county does. I think she's getting a lot of bad advice.

Just another day in county government.
