Enrollments Up

With the new school year underway, not surprisingly, enrollments in both school districts is up.

According to Loudon County director of schools, Mike Garren, county enrollment is up more than 300 students. You can see the table below.

The largest increase is at Loudon Elementary with 123 new students. Of course, this is a direct result of the new residential developments in the Loudon area. The total increase in the lower end schools is 178.

Lenoir City director of schools, Jeanie Barker, reports a total increase in the Lenoir City system at 96 bringing the total enrollment for the three schools to 2,532. Most of the more than 5,000 new residential dwellings, approved by the city council/mayor, haven't been completed as of yet.

Obviously, the uncontrolled residential development in Lenoir City and Loudon is going to impact both school systems dramatically and city officials apparently don't care and obviously NOT PREPARED for this massive growth.
