It's hard to believe that it could be time to start
discussing the next election but it is. The next county election will be
May of 2018. Some candidates have already begun to stake out their
positions. Thought I'd go ahead and post those candidates.
Sheriff Tim Guider has announced his intentions to seek
re-election. Scott Newman has announced his intentions to challenge the
sheriff in 2018. County Mayor, Buddy Bradshaw, has also announced that
he intends to seek re-election.
All three candidates have used Facebook to get their
announcements out. Below are those announcements and their Facebook
links. I posted them in the order they came out.
Candidate petitions are not available till November
but it never hurts to get a jump on the process.
Oh and by the way, I'm planning to run for re-election
too.
Three years ago this week I fulfilled a dream. It was both humbling and exhilarating and it has been my honor to serve the great people of Loudon County as their Mayor. With about a year until the 2018 primary I want to announce my intention to seek re-election to the office of Mayor of Loudon County and ask for your support and vote in May 2018. I want to help keep Loudon County going in the direction we are going with numbers of jobs going up, spending under control, and services to the residents being expanded. Let's keep looking for the best future Loudon County can achieve.

Dear Citizens of Loudon County:
First and foremost, THANK YOU for allowing me the opportunity to be YOUR
Sheriff. It is an honor and a privilege to serve you.
Over the past three years since the last election, this country has
experienced a climate change both politically and socially like never
before. Public sentiment has shifted negatively toward law enforcement
in many areas of these United States. However, let me say, without
hesitation and with great pride, that the cit...izens
of Loudon County have done just the opposite. Our communities,
individuals and groups alike, have rallied with us, going above and
beyond in showing support and confidence in THEIR Sheriff’s Office. A
strong positive bond between the citizens and the sheriff’s office is a
must in these ever-changing times. This bond is stronger than ever and
growing even stronger as we continue to move forward TOGETHER into the
future.
Therefore, I would like to take this time to announce that I am running
for re-election in 2018. It is my belief that law enforcement agencies
must continue to train and be ready for whatever lies ahead, especially
in times of uncertainty. What I AM certain of is that YOUR Sheriff’s
Office is highly trained and stands ready and willing to meet the
ever-changing challenges of today and tomorrow. I have in place a
leadership team of dedicated and experienced law enforcement
professionals that oversees the outstanding group of men and women who
make up the Sheriff’s Office. It has been said many times that the
Sheriff’s Office is alive and well and has more to offer than ever
before. I could not agree more and hope that you feel the same.
It is because of these positive reasons and the many more productive
initiatives implemented at the Sheriff’s Office that causes me to stay
excited about where we have been, where we are, and where we are going.
This is why, with great enthusiasm, that I am announcing my intention to
seek reelection as your Sheriff. If you will allow me, I will, with
honor, continue to lead and guide the Sheriff’s Office with integrity
and a steady hand. I am humbly asking for your vote and support.
In closing I would once again like to thank the Loudon County Citizens
for their overwhelming support, especially the prayers and kind words of
encouragement. There is no truer testament to the strength of our
community, and for that I am extremely grateful.
Sincerely,
Sheriff Tim Guider

To: The Citizens of Loudon CountyFrom: Scott Newman
Since 1994, I have served in law enforcement in Loudon County for the City of Loudon Police Department. For those of you who don't know me, I am currently the day shift Sergeant. Regardless of my role, I have always been active in our community, including my current position with the Loudon County School Board.
I have watched law enforcement change over the years; some changes have been an improvement, but some changes have had a negative effect on our county. Being behind the badge today is more volatile than any other period during my career. First and foremost, I believe with all my heart that our community involvement needs to be strengthened. I love this County and its citizens, as without you we can't do our job with the best of our abilities. With that said, I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Sheriff of Loudon County, effective today. Because of my passion and concern for the future of Loudon County, I want to contribute in a greater capacity. I firmly believe now is the time for a positive change in management and operations of the Loudon County Sheriffs Department. We are long overdue for a fresh approach and strategic leadership.
Today my campaign begins and I commit that throughout this next year, I will be in relentless pursuit of citizen input to develop the kind of relationship you want and need with your Sheriff's Department. You will be invited to planning meetings throughout the county and I hope to see you there. I promise to be a faithful servant to the Citizens of Loudon County if you elect me as your next Sheriff.
Starting right now, I humbly ask for your support and please vote R. Scott Newman for Sheriff of Loudon County in 2018.
Thank for your support!
