Drunk man charged with
domestic assault
A
Lenoir City man was charged with domestic assault Monday
after getting into an altercation while inebriated.
A
witness talked with Loudon County Sheriffs Office Sgt.
Christian Rogers late Sunday at the Loudon County Justice
Center and reported an ongoing domestic dispute. The man
said Jose Luis Lemus-Zamudio, 49, was extremely
intoxicated and had started beating a woman because his car
keys had gotten locked in his vehicle.
The man said he had seen Lemus-Zamudio grab the woman by the
hair and hit her several times in the head. After the
initial altercation, the man left to inform law enforcement
but later received a call from a second person at the scene
who said Lemus-Zamudio had started hitting the woman again.
Rogers and a LCSO
deputy responded to the residence and found the woman.
According to
Rogers report, the woman was visibly upset but hesitant
to cooperate, indicating multiple times she was afraid
of retaliation from Lemus-Zamudio should he be arrested.
She did say he had broken her phone and thrown it in the
yard.
Rogers explained
the process of a protection order and bond restrictions,
and the woman consented to have him look at her scalp in
the spot where she kept placing her hand. Rogers felt
two swollen knots on the back of her head and observed
one on the right side of her face.
Rogers and the
deputy then talked with Lemus-Zamudio inside the home
and took him into custody. Lemus-Zamudio had a sweaty
complexion with blood shot watery eyes and reeked of
alcohol and kept asking questions in English before
claiming he could not understand when deputies asked him
questions, according to the report.
Lemus-Zamudio was
charged with domestic assault and held without bond.
