KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Jackson Tindell received a gift Wednesday that had him doing laps through the halls at the NHC in Farragut.

Tindell was the latest recipient of the AmTryke Therapeutic Tricycle Project. The program is a part of the Kiwanis Club of Tellico that has gifted families with children with disabilities an AmTryke therapeutic tricycle at no cost.

During a joint meeting between the Kiwanis Clubs of Farragut and Tellico Village, Jackson was recognized and given the tricycle. The Tellico Village gifted it to Tindell while the Kiwanis Clubs of Farragut contributed $500 to pay it forward for the next tricycle the Tellico Village works on.

Jackson is the seventh child this year that has received a donation.

The gift comes as a blessing to the Tindell family who have had their share of difficulties surrounding their child’s disability. In April, we reported that Tindell’s were hoping the funding for the Beckett waiver would be secured after their son’s doctors suggested they get a divorce to cover the costs.

Providing relief and happiness to families is why the program exists. Dan Kuzdzal with the Kiwanis of Tellico Village recalled when the club gifted a 4-year-old girl with Muscular Dystrophy who could not walk, a special tricycle that she could use. Years later Dan ran into the same family and the little girl ran to Dan with a huge hug.

Now the simple act of kindness has become a tradition that has helped so many in East Tennessee.
