Dispute over children ends in ar

A Louisville man was arrested Sept. 12 in Lenoir City following an altercation over the custody of his children.

Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Christian Rogers and other deputies responded to a domestic disturbance where they were told a 39-year-old man in a red truck had come with a gun to attempt to get his children from their mother. When Rogers arrived on the scene, the truck was backing out of the driveway.

Due to the information they had, officers detained the man at gunpoint. He admitted having a gun in the glove compartment of his truck, but denied taking it out at any point during the evening.

Rogers spoke to the woman, who told Rogers she had picked up her children from the man’s residence earlier in the day with his permission. The man became upset that the woman never brought the children back as the couple had agreed. The woman said she had intended to file for emergency custody the next morning.

The woman said she didn’t know anything about the man having a gun, but she did provide numerous threatening messages and recorded phone calls he had made to her that evening. In one text, he claimed he would show up with six other bikers if he didn’t get his children, while in a phone call he called the woman vulgar names and threatened he would “end her” if he didn’t get the children.

The woman said she had turned off all lights and covered the windows when she saw the man arrive because she believed he would carry out his threats.

The man told deputies he had traveled to several locations to meet with the woman and pick up his children before going to the residence. He admitted being upset and repeatedly banging on the front door.

He was charged with domestic assault and released on $1,500 bond.

• Thomas Zachary Acosta, 46, Kissimmee, Fla., was charged with three counts of simple possession/casual exchange, manufacture, sell, delivery, resale of a Schedule VI substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a valid license and held on $36,000 bond.

• James Brent Brown, 38, Maynardville, was charged with capias-general sessions and held on $60,000 bond.

• Malcolm Ernest Derik Clackum, 29, Oak Ridge, was charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence, driving under the influence, violation of implied consent and speed limit and released on $4,000 bond.

• Melissa Denise Crow, 43, Kissimmee, Fla., was charged with three counts of simple possession/casual exchange, manufacture, sell, delivery, resale of a Schedule VI substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and held on $34,000 bond.
