Cow falls out of cattle truck,
multiple wrecks on I-75, Loudon Co. sheriff says Traffic on I-75 was
backed up for miles in Loudon County after multiple crashes
LOUDON CO., Tenn. (WVLT) - Loudon County deputies responded to multiple crashes on I-75 Thursday. A driver reported the back of a cattle truck was open resulting in a cow falling from the trailer. It was injured but began running into traffic in both directions near mile marker 72. “Unfortunately, before the cow could be secured, it caused a wreck with injuries on I-75 South at the 72-mile marker,” LCSO officials said. “Northbound traffic was temporarily shut down as a safety precaution while first responders worked to secure the scene and prevent additional accidents.”
The
Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Tennessee Department of
Agriculture responded.
Deputies then responded to a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on I-75 North. “One driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence,” LCSO officials said. “This wreck also resulted in debris, including nails, screws, building materials, and other items being scattered across the interstate, requiring a temporary shutdown of I-75 North.” A third wreck was reported in Philadelphia at the intersection of Highway 11 and Pond Creek Road. Multiple people were injured, including children, according to LCSO officials. Traffic was backed up for several miles in both directions of I-75 for the majority of the day due to these incidents. The sheriff’s office thanked all of the agencies involved and reminded drivers to stay alert while being mindful of changing traffic conditions. |
