Courthouse Update
| More than three and a half years after the Loudon
County Courthouse burned, we're beginning to see some real changes as
repairs continue. Most of the support steel that had been installed to
stabilize the structure after the fire has come down and the new roof
structure has been built. The contractor is still waiting on the new
metal roofing, and yes, it's going back with the same green color roof. This phase of the construction is slated to be done by May. After this phase is done, work to rebuild the interior will begin. Thus far, the insurance company has spent a nearly five million dollars. That includes all salvage, stabilization, construction, rentals for temporary facilities and so on. I'd say it's still a couple years away from completion. But there's progress. |
