KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Police are investigating after a child was hit by a car at the Peaks of Loudon Apartments in Loudon just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Loudon police say the girl was alert and on her way to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital for a precautionary check. Police said her injuries didn’t appear life-threatening.

Police say the driver of the car will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident. They are interviewing the driver to determine if there will be other charges.
