Calf rescued after falling
through icy pond in Loudon County
Wyonna, a sweet, longhorn calf, fell through the ice into a pond on Tuesday PHILADELPHIA, Tenn. (WVLT) - A two-month-old calf was rescued on Tuesday in Loudon County after falling through an icy pond.
“When it
gets that deep it’s hard to breathe and you start to go into
shock and it’s hard but you just grab the cow around the neck
and drag it out and hope it dries out alright,” said Oliver
Reyes who is the 16 years old and saved the calf.
The Frankovich family has owned the farm and land for the last seven years and considers the animals under their care a part of their family, which is why the family is so proud of Reyes for saving the calf. “They’re our responsibility, like they say ‘you feed the animals before you feed yourself.’ You make sure if you’re going to own something, it’s your job to take care of it and take care of it well,” said Brooke Frankovich, who is Oliver’s mom. The post goes on to say that Oliver “hauled off in that icy water and got her.”
After being rescued, both
Oliver and Wyonna dried off and warmed up in the sunshine,
