News Herald Arrest Report

Busy day for law enforcement; unwanted guest, ‘zombie like’ investigation

A woman from Philadelphia, Tenn., now faces public intoxication charges after reportedly trespassing on a Loudon County resident’s property and showing signs of drug use.

On Wednesday, June 12, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Deputy James Davis with the Loudon County Sheriff ’s Office responded to an address on Old Lee Highway in reference to a report of an unwanted guest.

According to the report obtained by the News-Herald, the complainant advised law enforcement that a white female wearing a black shirt and blackand- white pants was on drugs on his property.

Upon arrival, Davis observed a female matching the description given by the complainant walking down Old Lee Highway; the suspect was later identified as 27-year-old Chelsey Coker.

While speaking with Coker, Davis observed multiple signs of impairment. The deputy’s report stated Coker had constricted eyes with resting nystagmus, grinded her teeth, was anxious and began to have conversations with individuals who weren’t present on-scene.

These behaviors led Davis to believe she was possibly under the influence of a stimulus such as methamphetamines. During the conversation, Coker told Davis that she smoked “five dollars worth of meth.” From the behaviors and statements given, Davis believed Coker was under the influence of a controlled substance and was an endangerment to herself and others.

The complainant advised her presence was annoying and asked to have her taken from the property. Coker was then taken into custody and transported to the Loudon County Detention Center.

In the sally port of the jail, Deputy Pratt located a used syringe in Coker’s bag — which was shortly after disposed of in a sharps container.

Coker was charged with public intoxication and was released on a $390 bond.

LOUDON MAN FACES 2 CHARGES INCLUDING IDENTITY THEFT

A Loudon man is facing two charges after acting “zombie like” in public.

On Wednesday, June 12, Officer Jade Bonilla-Law with the Loudon Police Department was dispatched to a local business in regards to an employee possibly being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Bonilla-Law and Sgt. Bo Cogdill went to the scene. The caller stated that 20-year-old Jacob Henderson of Loudon was unaware of his surroundings and “walking around like a zombie.” The report stated that his employer was “obviously afraid to send him home due to his current state and inability to drive.”

Upon arrival, Bonilla-Law made contact with Henderson.

According to the report, Henderson’s eyes were noticeably glazed over and an odor of an alcoholic beverage was on his person.

When asked if he had consumed any alcohol or drugs, he continually denied doing so and stated he was not a diabetic.

Bonilla-Law proceeded to check Henderson’s eyes for horizontal gaze nystagmus, and found apparent signs of such in the movement of his eyes. Furthermore Henderson had a vape on his person, which was submitted for evidence to be destroyed.

Upon a deeper search, it was revealed that Henderson was in possession of a fake Alabama driver’s license that contained a legitimate DL number belonging to a Hoover, Ala., man.

The report stated that Sgt. Cogdill then made contact with Henderson’s mother, and she stated she would come pick up the vehicle in order to keep it from being towed.

Henderson was charged with identity theft, public intoxication and was released on a $6,000 bond.
