Budget Highlights

The Loudon County budget committee has completed their 2024-2025 budget recommendations. Some of the highlights of the budget are below.

Those recommendations include:

  • Approximately $500,000 in additional revenue will go to the Loudon County school board.
  • The sheriff and jail departments will receive approximately $821,000.00 in salary increases with an over all budget increase of $919,511.00. This includes three new employees.
  • $1,200.00 cost of living raises for all full time employees, 5% for part time employees, excluding sheriff and jail. Cost approximately $300,000.00.
  • 2 new full time and one part time employee in the court clerks office for the new Lenoir City office.
  • $85,000.00 in additional contributions to the volunteer fire departments.

These are just a few of the budget recommendations.

The budget committee will present the budget proposal to the full commission on May 29 with a public hearing to be held on June 17th. It has also now been determined that the proposed $100,000,000.00, county school building program, will only require a twenty-five cent property tax increase. The vote to set the property tax rate will be held on June 24th along with the adoption of the 24-25 budget.
