Robinson “Buddy” Hines age 90, born December 28, 1932, the son of Carl
Hines and Margie Miller, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023. Buddy
was a member of First Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Lenoir
City. He attended Walnut Street School and was a graduate of Lenoir City
High School Class of 1951. Buddy was a graduate of Carson Newman
College. He was a (nuclear) physicist working at the Martin Marietta
Y-12 Plant for 34 years before retiring.
Buddy served on the Lenoir City Council for 25 years and was Vice Mayor several terms. He loved his community and worked on many projects that improved the lives of Lenoir Citians. Buddy served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post #70 for 48 years where he was past commander. Buddy was an avid golfer and U T fan. He was very involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren, coaching little league football and girls softball. Buddy was a Christian and was choir director, choir member, Sunday school teacher, Deacon and Elder. He met the love of his life, Jacque Rose Babb Hines in the 8th grade. He and Jacque were married on September 4, 1953 and were blessed with 69 years of marriage. Buddy always had a smile on his face and was committed to God and family. He always made sure his family was loved and encouraged them to achieve their highest potential. He was handsome, stylish and always happy. Buddy loved and adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His devotion to God, family and community will be his legacy and an example for all to follow. He will be forever missed and forever loved. Preceded in death by his wife, Jacque Rose Babb Hines; parents, Carl Hines and Margie Miller; sisters, Ann Green and Donna Nichols; brother, Mickey Vann; grandmother, Laura Abbott Hines; uncles, Claude, Kenneth and Charlie Hines; aunts, Mildred Hines and Maxine Isaacs; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Frances Babb. He leaves behind his beloved and devoted children, Jay Hines and wife, Sharon, daughter, Loudon County Commissioner, Rosemary Hines Quillen; grandchildren: Katie Rose Floyd (Dustin), Kipper Quillen and Macy Hines; his precious great-grandchildren, Jay Ryder Hines and Ethan Howard Floyd; nephews, Dan Green (Pat), Joel Green and Kim Nichols; cousins, Linda Anderson, Lonnitta Biggs and Claudia Tester; sister-in-law, JoAnn Babb Smith (AJ) and aunt, Edyth Ann Worthy. The family would like to thank Select Specialty Hospital at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center for their loving care of our dad. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18th at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Tommy Patterson and Rev. Eddie Click officiating. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home by 10:30 Thursday morning and proceed to Lakeview Cemetery for graveside services at 11 a.m. Military honors will be conducted by the Loudon County Veterans Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers: Leon Shields, Mitch Ledbetter, Mark Robinson, Dustin Floyd, Kipper Quillen, Lloyd Quillen, Roger Read, and Bill Cunningham.
