Brown To Resign
5th District, Loudon County
school board member, Brian Brown, has announced his resignation from the
board effective December 31st. See note and letter below. Chairman Cullen, I hope you are doing well. I have attached a formal letter to this email to let you know that I will be stepping down from my school board position. Since commission has the task of appointing someone to fill my vacancy, I wanted to give you notice so it could be placed on the next meeting agenda and that person be ready to serve in January. (December 31, 2021, will be my last day). Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Brian Brown
The county commission could appoint someone to fill the seat till the next general election or given that the 5th district is a two member district, the commission could chose to leave the seat vacant until 2022 election cycle. Commission will discuss the issue at tonight's workshop. I think we can all appreciate Brian's honesty and desire to do the right thing in his decision to resign his seat since he will be moving out of his elected district. How nice it would have been if Ms. Hurley had had the integrity of Mr. Brown. |
