Loudon County resident, David Matlock, shared the old memorabilia with me and I wanted to share it with all of you.

It's a nice piece of our local history. You can just imagine all the festivities going all day on that warm Saturday. Just think what a big deal this would have been. Up till the bridge opened, the only way to cross the river was by ferry.

I suppose everyone was very happy about the new bridge except maybe the ferry owner.
