News Herald Arrest Report

Bleach used as weapon in domestic assault

STAFF REPORTS

On Tuesday, May 13, Deputy Billy Lewis responded to a physical domestic call in Greenback.

Upon arrival, he immediately located and detained the suspect who had already been identified as Steven Patton, who was found outside spraying his face with a garden hose.

Patton stated that he and a family member had got into a fight, resulting in him striking the family member across the face with a can of Great Value bleach. The family member, who was in the home’s kitchen and being tended to, stated that Patton entered the home to gather up some belongings that were not his.

When the family member called her parents, Patton reportedly pulled the front door partially shut and stared her down. When the family member tried to shut the door all the way, Patton burst through the door and struck her with a container of bleach.

This led to the substance coming in contact with her eyes, face, mouth and clothes, according to reports. The victim stated that she had suffered a temporary blindness and might have even swallowed some of the substance.

The victim was then transported to Fort Loudon Emergency Room for treatment, and Steven Patton was taken into custody for domestic assault after also being taken to the emergency room for treatment.
