Bicycle vs County

My Proposal For New Signs on Loudon County Roads

This one you won't believe.

Last July, a bicyclist was hit on the Knox County side of Allen Kirby Road which is also inside the Farragut City limits. The rider, a man named Bradley Johnson, is now suing the driver of the jeep that hit him, Knox County, the City of Farragut and Loudon County. The reason he's including Loudon County, even though the wreck was in Knox County, is because Loudon County should have widened the narrow road or put up signs warning of the narrow road.

Allen Kirby Road is in the 6th district at the end of Virtue Road. It's not hardly one lane wide, in fact at the county line, it's just 11 feet wide. Obviously, the idiot bicycle rider had to know how narrow the road was when he went peddling out on it. He claims that while he was operating his bicycle in a "safe and prudent" way, everybody else was doing something wrong. If he was stupid enough to be riding his bicycle on such a tiny, curvy road, he was the one who was acting in a "negligent and reckless" manner.

According to the lawsuit, Mr. Johnson suffered many serious injuries including now being bowlegged. He's asking for no less than $850,000.00 up to $1,250,000.00 in damages. All that pain and suffering and all that damage for poor ol' Mr. Johnson just because he didn't have enough sense not to ride his bicycle on an inappropriate road. My daddy always said, if you're going to be stupid, you've got to be tough.

On another note, if sheriff Guider would allow the deputies to enforce the law pertaining to bicycles and get them off our roads, Loudon County might not be involved in a lawsuit and the bicycle guy might not be walking around bowlegged.
