Parent Survey on Reopening School - Message from Mr.
Garren
A message from Director of Schools Mike Garren regarding a parent survey about reopening schools.
As we begin to navigate
through upcoming guidance to be issued by the state on the
reopening of schools, we feel it’s important to gather input
from the families in Loudon County. The Tennessee Department of
Education has indicated that they expect us to complete 180 days
of instruction this year in a traditional, distance learning, or
blended approach. Although it is subject to change depending on
constantly evolving conditions, it is our intent to start on
the scheduled date of August 7th and follow the
calendar adopted by our school board.
We anticipate some changes in
our instructional day due to concerns over COVID. This
survey will help us gather information to determine what is most
important to you while we are developing our reopening plan. We
want to make families feel as comfortable as possible while
complying with state requirements relative to instruction.
As you answer questions in the survey, you may wonder what a
virtual instruction day will look like. This will look much
more structured than it did in the spring, but until the
Tennessee Department of Education gives us more guidance, we
can’t give you a complete picture. The one thing I can tell you
for sure is we will do what we think is best for kids given the
constraints we have. This survey will help us identify areas
our community feels is important. We will release additional
information in July, and will make sure you have the information
needed to make an informed decision prior to the start of
school. Please complete the survey prior to June 26.
