August Election
The next election will be August 4th. It is a county
general election and a state primary election.
All the winning candidates that were in the May primary election will appear on the August general election. All will be uncontested races with the exception of one. 7th district Tellico Village commissioner, Henry Cullen, will be challenged by democrat Kenneth Moore. Moore is the only democrat to run for any county office. There are two city school board seats on the ballot in August. There are four candidates running for those two seats. Incumbent, Matthew Coleman is running for re-election. Bobby Johnson Sr. is not seeking re-election. Lenoir City residents, Chris Clabough, Laci Murray and Monty Ross will also seeking one of the two seats. There will be other non-partisan local elections on the ballot also. Incumbent Lenoir City municipal judge, Robin McNabb, will be seeking re-election. Lenoir City council attorney, Greg Harrison and Lenoir City attorney Amanda Smith are also running for the judge's position. Neither Harrison nor Smith actually live in Lenoir City. Incumbent judge, Robin McNabb, is the only city resident on the ballot for judge. Much more discussion on this race later. There are five Roane County candidates running on the republican ticket for the 32nd house race. The 32nd district is made up of a small portion of Loudon County and nearly all of Roane County. This makes it almost impossible for a Loudon County candidate to win that office. Loudon County doctor, Jan Hahn, is running on the democrat ticket for the seat. Long time 9th district Chancellor, Frank Williams will be seeking re-election. Williams has held the position since 1984. Williams is being challenged by Roane County attorney, Tom McFarland. Greenback resident, Earl Segrest is challenging incumbent state senator, Randy McNally as a republican while Democrat, Hannah Parton, is also challenging McNally.
