August 2024

The next election of this cycle will be August 1, 2024. There aren't a lot of contested elections on this ballot. However, the Lenoir City school board race will be contested this year. There will be three seats on the ballot with four candidates running for those three seats. School board elections are now partisan and all four candidates are running as republicans.

The city school board races are also "at large", meaning there are no assigned seats so the top three vote getters win a seat. As an "at large" election, voters may vote for any three of the candidates or they can just vote for one or two candidates. Voting for one candidate is called single shot voting. If a voter chooses to vote for only one candidate, that makes that one vote more valuable than if they vote for two or three candidates. The old saying in the city is, "you can vote for three, but single shot me". So if you have a favorite candidate, voting for just that one candidate helps them x3.

The four candidates are, incumbents, Rick Chadwick, Mitch Ledbetter and Glenn McNish. The new candidate is Tammy Powell.

The only other contested election will be for the 5th District Seat "A" school board seat. Republican incumbent, Melissa Browder, is being challenged by Democrat Jan Hahn.

When we get a little closer to early voting, I will put up a page with all the candidates links and information. Early voting begins July 12th and runs through July 27th.

More to come...
