ARPA Finals

Back in 2021, every city and county in the country received millions of dollars in ARPA funds. ARPA stands for the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, a stimulus bill passed to help the US recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. ARPA was signed into law on March 11, 2021.

Loudon County ultimately received $10,723,688.00. When the funds were first released, there were so many conditions on the money, there wasn't very much the county could have done with the money. This was the case for lots of jurisdictions across the country. To make the adjustment, the federal government ultimately changed the conditions for use of the money that allowed local governments to use the funds as needed. All the funds had to be spent or appropriated by the end of 2024.

County commission allocated $5,723,688.00 to county wide type projects. Commission also allocated $5,000,00.00, in half million dollar blocks, to each commissioner to use in their districts for various needed projects. Lots of the district money went toward paving roads to the tune of $2,234,119.00. The highway department also received an additional $686,612.00 for new equipment. The sheriff's department received $1,706,478.00 in new equipment  Every penny of ARPA was used for great county projects.
