Armed barricade suspect in custody, Loudon County Sheriff’s Office says Loudon County Sheriff

Jimmy Davis said a man was threatening himself and the public with a gun.

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WVLT) - A “large police presence” responded to a home in the 4000 block of Harrison Lane in Lenoir City Thursday morning, officials with the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office told WVLT News.

The call came in around 8 a.m., Sheriff Jimmy Davis said, adding that a woman had called the office about her husband, who she said was threatening himself and others with a gun.

Davis said that when the sheriff’s office got on the scene, the man had barricaded himself inside the home with a weapon. Deputies and crisis negotiators with the sheriff’s office were joined by the Loudon City Police Department, Davis said, and officers negotiated with the man for more than an hour.

Around 12:30 p.m., the office announced that the man had come out of the home and was taken into custody. Davis told WVLT News that the office will be providing him with medical attention, including a mental evaluation.

“We’ve come to a peaceful ending,” Davis said, adding that he was thankful no one was hurt.
