Affordable housing defined: Affordable housing is housing that a household can pay for, while still having money left over for other necessities like food, transportation, and health care. That means that what's considered “affordable” depends on a household's income.

Currently, there are more than 2,000 new housing units proposed or already under construction in the county. Of those, 803 are low to moderate income, multi family rental apartments, 170 single family rental houses, 571 single family, affordable houses. That's a total of 1,548 affordable housing units currently under construction or already approved for construction. This does not include any smaller developments and single home constructions currently underway.

It makes it hard to argue that there isn't enough affordable housing available right now with many more coming in the very near future. So as county officials continue taking input on future development, the question of the lack of affordable housing isn't even a consideration for now.
