Admissions suspended at Loudon nursing home

LOUDON, Tenn. (AP) - Health officials say admissions have been suspended at a Tennessee nursing home that has been cited for several violations.

Tennessee Health Commissioner John Dreyzehner said in a news release Monday that Prestige Assisted Living of Loudon has been ordered not to admit any new residents based on violations found in June.

An investigation of the 57-bed assisted care living facility showed violations related to infection control, resident medication, disposal of medication, and life safety.

Other violations found by the state health department include issues with policies and procedures, admissions, hospice certification, and medical records.

The health commissioner may suspend admissions to an assisted care living facility when conditions are detrimental to the health, safety or welfare of residents.

The facility has the right to a hearing regarding the suspension.
