As the new year rolls
around, I thought it a good time to remind Lenoir City officials
and mayor, they still haven't paid their share of funding to
Loudon County 911 Emergency dispatch. Two years running now.
This all started in
2023 when Lenoir City mayor, Tony Aikens, unilaterally, decided
not to pay the city's bill even though the council had approved
the payment.
During his election
last year, Aikens was touting his undying support of first
responders. (I guess unless it's 911 Emergency Dispatch). Yet,
he still refuses to pay the city's portion of the 911 funding
and apparently, all the council is OK with that. No one has yet
challenged his decision to cut the funding.
