I had the opportunity to attend the last Lenoir City council meeting. Wasn't a very long agenda but there was a couple of items that caught my attention.

One was the vote on essentially fixing the old landfill the other was borrowing fifty million dollars.

The council spent about thirty minutes discussing the old landfill and the possible cost in the thousands of dollars.

The vote to borrow the fifty million dollars had no discussion and no one even asked any questions or raised concerns.

The additional 50 million will be for the new LCUB operations center and pole yard.

With the additional 50 million of debt, the combined debt of the city, utilities and school board will be well over 100 million dollars.

That's a lot of debt.
