3rd Judge Candidate
With just three and a half days to the deadline, a third candidate to seek the office of Lenoir City Judge has picked up a qualifying petition. Lenoir City resident and attorney, Robin McNabb picked up a petition Friday. While three candidates have picked petitions, none have yet returned their petitions to officially qualify. In other election news, looks like incumbent school board member Dr. Professor Gary Ubben has decided to go for 5th district seat "B" instead of his current seat "A" position. That puts him in competition with challenger Robert Dishner. Ubben currently holds seat "A" but after Brian Brown qualified to run against Ubben, he withdrew from seat "A" and instead moved to run for seat "B". Current incumbent 5th district seat "B" board member, Jeremy Buckles has not picked up a petition to seek re-election. So without knowing exactly why, one can only assume Ubben felt he would have a better chance of winning re-election facing Dishner than Brown. Buckles is supposedly looking at a possible out of area job which would prevent him from seeking re-election. Who knows, Ubben may have jumped out of the pot into the fire. The ballot for all the August races will be final Thursday. I'll keep you posted.
