Thirty Grand
| According to the latest political financial
statements filed by the candidates, July1 to September 30, Lenoir City
mayor, Tony Akins shows that he has had a tad over thirty thousands
dollars, $30,093.00 to be exact, in contributions to his campaign for
re-election and $9,738.32 in expenses. Aikens is running unopposed.
Councilman Eddie Simpson has taken a loan of $2,632.74 and spent $1,157.69 in expenses. The other candidates either haven't filed their reports or have filed to be exempt from reporting due to receiving less than and spending less than $1,000.00. Aikens statement shows 82 contributors many of which are from outside Loudon County. Simpson shows no contributors. With all the news paper ads and electronic billboards along Hwy. 321 advertising for the mayor and his picks for council, no expenses are shown on either report as to who's paying for all the advertising.
