1 More Day
Thursday noon being the deadline to qualify for the November
election, looks like there will be several more uncontested races in the
city elections and maybe even a lack of candidates for some races. In Philadelphia there are two candidates for the mayor's seat but only two candidates for the four alderman positions. Greenback looks like all uncontested races In Lenoir City, some potential candidates may or may not even be in the race. David Cole had picked up petitions for both city council and the mayor's position. As of now however, Mr. Cole has not returned a petition for either slot. Steve Shoemaker has also failed to return his petition as of yet. Both candidates may be waiting till the last minute to keep the incumbents guessing. We'll know for sure Thursday. Lenoir City Treasurer/Recorder Jim Wilburn looks to be unopposed this time around. A little surprising given that being a city resident is not a requirement to run for that office. I'll post the final ballots after the deadline.
