12th annual Tour de Tellico set Oct. 7 in Loudon
Tellico Lake Rotary Club announces the 12th annual Provision Tour de
Tellico on Saturday, Oct. 7. This “Ride for Charity” raises funds to
support a number of charities in Loudon and Monroe Counties.
Participants will wind their way along Tellico Village Parkway and
surrounding highways and byways.
The event offers four rides from which participants can choose:
100-mile Century, 100K, 50K and easy 25K.
The 100-mile Century extends as far south as Athens and the 100K
extends to Madisonville.
All rides begin and end at First Baptist Church of Tellico
Village, 205 Chota Road in Loudon.
The donation is $40 per rider before Sept. 25. After that date,
the donation is $45.
Both online and mail-in registration forms and waivers are
available online at
tourdetellico.com.
Registration is also available the day of the event.
Check-in and registration for the century and 100k is 7 a.m.,
warm-up at 7:45 a.m. and 8 a.m. start. Check-in for the 50k and
25k rides is 8 a.m., warm-up at 8:45 a.m. and 9 a.m. start.
Tour de Tellico was the brainchild of Pastor Charlie Barnard
of First Baptist Church of Tellico Village and Tom Irmen of
Tellico Plains. Prior to moving to Tellico Village, Charlie
Barnard had participated in a similar ride while pastoring
in South Carolina.
The first ride was in 2006, and since that time, the event
has raised approximately $120,000 for charity.
