To his credit, city attorney Shannon Littleton, warned the mayor and council back in 2006 that if they followed through on plans to tear down the apartments they would probably land in court. Well he was right.

Landmark America, the holder of the mortgage on the property, is suing the city to recoup it's loss on the buildings that were torn down by the city. The case is set to be heard in Chancery Court.

In the last year the city has already shelled out nearly $165,000.00 settling two other lawsuits.
