Who Is Maggie Hunt
Since her appointment as the interim City
Treasurer/Recorder, I have received many emails requesting information
about Ms. Hunt. Recently Ms. Hunt graciously agreed to a short interview
to provide a little background information for the public. Maggie P. Hunt is a native of Madisonville and has worked in municipal government for seventeen years, five of those years in the the Lenoir City Treasurer/Recorder's office. Maggie is a certified Municipal Clerk. Ms. Hunt and Her husband of twenty years, Marvin (Cotton) Hunt, live in Lenoir City with their two daughters, Ashley and Kelley. Mr. Hunt works as the finance director for the Tellico Village Property Owners Association. Ms. Hunt, who has been the chief deputy of the department, assumes her new position after the recent early retirement of long time treasurer Debbie Cook. Ms. Hunt stated that she would like to thank Debbie for the opportunity to have worked with her and for her for these five years and hopes Debbie will enjoy to the fullest her retirement. Maggie was quick to say that she had told the mayor and council that there were many aspects of the job that she would still have to learn but that she was willing to give a 100% effort to see that the office was operated properly and in the best interest of the city. Maggie was not quite ready to commit either way as to whether she would seek the office in the next election in November 08. "I'll just have to wait and see," she said. |
