Want To Be A Mayor?
If you live in Philadelphia and are a registered
voter, one vote might just get you the mayor's job. With the deadline to
qualify for the November election long past, neither the current mayor
nor any of the four councilmen qualified for reelection to the city
government. According to law, an incumbent government official remains in office until his or her replacement is duly elected or appointed to fill the position. So technically, the incumbent mayor and council men will stay in office till replacement is duly elected or appointed. Apparently Philadelphia city officials have just decided to let the city go. Election officials are hoping that some city residents will register as write in candidates so there will at least be a government in place to dissolve the city charter. Anyone wishing to be a write in candidate for the city of Philadelphia has until September 15th to register with the Loudon County Election Commission. |
