Vote For Papaw

OK, so I'm shamelessly using the cute baby card in the election. But why not when you've got grand babies as pretty as these?

But seriously, the election will be here before we know it. I would like to ask for your vote and support.

Previously serving on county commission (2002-2006) and the county school board (2008-2012), I can bring a number of qualities and qualifications to the position unlike others. My experience in the private sector business and local government give me a unique understanding of the position.

In government, I’m best known as a very fiscal conservative. Much of my previous time in local government was spent working on cutting wasteful spending from budgets so that operations stay within existing revenues, meaning not raising taxes. Local government, like the federal government doesn’t have a revenue problem, but a spending problem.

There are other candidates running for this seat, but none have the relevant background and experience I have to offer. Besides having served eight years in elective office, I have been a self-employed businessman for most my adult life. For twenty years, I served on the Board of Directors of a multi-million dollar wholesale business.  For the past twenty-four years, I have managed the county’s largest youth sports program on behalf of the Eaton Ruritan Club. This combination of business, public, private, volunteer and governmental service has given me a depth of experience no other candidate can claim.

I am a fiscal conservative who believes in limited government, low taxes, and strong communities. I feel we pay taxes for services, not to have local government dictate to us how we should conduct our lives. As a commissioner and a school board member, I have never voted for or supported any tax increase and even led the opposition against the wheel tax and the sales tax increase. “Government that governs least governs best” is a great motto for elected officials to embrace.

Consider all the candidates in this election and vote for those most qualified.
