Vonore man jailed on multiple meth charges

A Vonore man is facing multiple charges after a police officer watched the vehicle he was driving fail to maintain its lane and nearly side-swipe a car in an adjacent lane.
Lenoir City Police Officer Riley Miller was on patrol Dec. 20 when he saw a white Saturn SUV travel north on U.S. Highway 321 and nearly hit a gray Nissan sedan. The driver of the Nissan had to apply brakes to avoid the collision.
After a traffic stop near a fast food restaurant, Miller talked with the driver, Jon Glen Wright, who said his license was revoked. Miller then had Wright step out of the vehicle.
“During my investigation, I noticed what appeared to be a digital scale in Wright’s shirt pocket,” Miller wrote in a report. “Wright gave verbal consent to retrieve the digital scale from his pocket, at which time a crystal-like substance commonly associated with methamphetamine was located on it. Wright did state that he uses methamphetamine, but also mentioned he had not used today.”
A search of the vehicle located a large bag under the driver’s seat containing a crystal-like substance that tested positive for meth. Officers also found two hypodermic needles and a bottle cap, which are commonly used to inject narcotics. The total amount of meth was 26.28 grams.
Wright, 48, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacture, sale, or possession of meth, driving on a revoked/suspended license, driving while in possession of meth and driving on roadways laned for traffic and held on $26,000 bond.
