Verizon temporarily withdraws application for new cell tower in Loudon County

 

LENOIR CITY (WATE) - The Loudon County zoning office says Verizon Wireless is temporarily withdrawing its permit application for a new cell tower on Virtue Road.

The Board of Zoning Appeals had planned on discussing the permit at its meeting Tuesday.

Some residents expressed concern that the tower would hurt the landscape of the area.

Verizon is proposing a 180 foot cell tower, roughly 18 stories high, off Virtue Road. Verizon engineers said the tower would improve data service in the area.

Verizon says it will refile the application once it has all the information required by county ordinances.
