TV Library Cut

Since 2009, the Tellico Village Property Owner's Association has been making a $9,000.00 annual donation to the Tellico Village Library. Apparently, the POA has now decided to cut the library off all together.

In a letter to the Library coordinator, Anita Wells, County mayor Buddy's Bradshaw's executive Assistant, the new Tellico Village COO, Chet Pillsbury, informed Ms. Wells that the POA would no longer be providing the annual $9,000.00 contribution.

According to Pillsbury, after all the years of making the contribution, suddenly their legal council, Kevin Stevens, has advised the POA they can't give money to the library. That's a little hard to believe. Seems more likely, with all the financial challenges facing the Village and the POA, they're looking for anywhere they can to cut costs. And if they're down to having to cut off funding to their own library, that can't be a good sign.

The Tellico Village Library is one of five county libraries supported by county tax dollars at nearly $400,000.00 per year. The village library is owned by The Friends Of Tellico Village Library.

Tellico Village County Commissioner, Henry Cullen  contributed $70,000.00 from the American Rescue Plan Act to the library.

It's unfortunate the POA has chosen to eliminate support for their own library.
