Triple Threat, No More

Eddie Simpson, Mark Matlock and Julia Hurley
pledging their allegiance to the Home Builders Association of Knoxville

Back in March, the Home Builders Association of Knoxville, held an event to invite candidates to explain their position on over development in Loudon County. The three candidates above were more than happy to tell the Knoxville association that they were onboard with opening the county to mass development no matter the costs to county tax payers.

As the campaigns heated up, the Home Builders Association of Knoxville determined that supporting these three candidates in their effort would be in their best interest. They spent tens of thousands of dollars on mailers supporting their candidates. In the end, it was absolutely the involvement of  the Home Builders Association of Knoxville that helped preserve Loudon County. Obviously, Loudon County voters don't care for outside interference in our elections.

All together, the Home Builders Association of Knoxville sent a dozen different mailers on behalf of their chosen candidates to thousands on county voters. By doing so, they they showed clearly what was at stake in this election and the voters said, overwhelmingly, they wanted no part in their scheme.

The Home Builders Association of Knoxville did as much to get the message out about this election than I or any other candidate could have and for that I'm thankful.

I would also mention the Alan K Sefton, backward county, nonexistent fire departments and underperforming schools, letter that also gave a great insight into the mind set of some developers and how they look at Loudon County.

And one final note, it looks like Mark Matlock has finally paid a lot of his overdue county property taxes now. Guess he thought that would help him in the election? It didn't.

All and all, Loudon County had a great outcome in last weeks county commission elections.

The People Have Spoken, and we're going to listen.
